Pre-Purchase Home Inspections
As a team of two home inspectors, Medallion Inspections performs limited visual home inspections in accordance with ASHI’s Standards of Practice, which describes what a home inspector should and should not inspect. It begins with the outside of the house, the building, the structure, the roof, windows, doors, all of the mechanical systems, including the heating and air conditioning system, electrical system, plumbing system, the kitchen, fireplaces, bathrooms, bedrooms, and most everything you can think of on a home. It also states what an inspector is NOT required to inspect, such as areas hidden from view by furniture, are unsafe areas, or systems outside of the scope of a home inspection. Remember, unless it is unsafe, Joe will always get up on the roof!
New Construction or Pre-Drywall Inspections
Joe and Jim and both ICC and CABO Code Certified, meaning that they are experts when it comes to new construction. When you are having a new home built, Medallion recommends having it inspected at two points during the construction period. The first point is just before the drywall is installed in order to avoid having to take more invasive and expensive steps later that could involve making a hole in the wall to discover what defects exist inside. The second is immediately before you hold your walkthrough with your builder to make sure that everything is being built correctly.
Most builders offer a one-year warranty when you purchase a new home. Call Medallion Inspections to inspect your home in the 10th or 11th month to catch any issues covered by your warranty before it expires!
Radon is an invisible gas without taste or smell that is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer in the United States – and the 1st leading cause of lung cancer among non-tobacco users! Contact Medallion Inspections to help rescue your family from this nearly undetectable killer. Using a state-of-the art continuous radon monitoring machine, Medallion monitors and measures the presence and levels of any radon gas that may be present in the home. The monitor is placed for a minimum of 48 hours, and delivers immediate results onsite. For more information, please visit our page on Radon Testing.
Medallion Inspections’ Joe and Jim will do a visual and thermal imaging inspection to check for the presence or the conditions likely to produce mold. If suspect areas are detected, specimens will be sent to the lab for further testing to determine the type of mold present. If mold is discovered, mitigation measures will be recommended.
Infrared Thermography, or Thermal Imaging, involves the use of a special camera that can detect emitted wavelengths beyond those that the unaided human eye can see or measure. It can aid in the discovery of water intrusion, insulation problems, and much more. A FREE Thermal Imaging scan is offered as a part of every Medallion Home Inspection if needed!
