Medallion Inspectors finds missing siding from the backs of fireplaces frequently.
The builder forgot to finish the siding on the back of this chimney. The house was 1 year old when we found this, and the buyer had it inspected by another inspector using high-powered binoculars from the ground and from the top of his ladder!

Do you think this buyer got their money's worth? We don't, and every year so do hundreds of our customers,  owners, buyers, builders and realtors agree.
We still get on the roof. If you called another inspector and his wife said it's a bad idea to get on the roof, don't believe it. They are only trying to convince you to accept less so they can do your inspection. There's simply no other way to check the roof thoroughly. That's why insurance companies always send someone to walk the roof after a storm before paying a claim - because it's the only way to know for sure - and this is one of the most critical items on a house.

We still do it the old fashioned way by getting on a ladder and climbing up to see what is going on – especially in areas not visible from the ground. You would be surprised at how often we see cracked or damaged shingles, worn out rubber boots surrounding the drain waste vents, holes left from construction, or even missing siding.

Don’t risk an inspection of the roof from the ground. You just can’t see the real problems, no matter how high powered a pair of binoculars an inspector uses. There’s no substitute for getting on the roof. Choose Medallion and be sure you get a complete inspection, including the roof.

One of the Medallion Inspectors climbs on every roof for a thorough inspection
Ridge vents are a source of water getting into the house if not installed correctly
Rain gutters will cause damage if they are not pitched correctly and are holding water.
These gutters are holding water because they were never pitched properly. The house is 1 year old and the gutters are starting to pull off the house. No wonder with all the water in the gutters at almost 7 pounds per gallon.

Once again, another inspector who claims to be a professional engineer inspected this house when it was new.

Do you think they did their job? Be sure your inspector gets on the roof,
